Cross Lane

This property was originally a derelict workshop building that had been demolished by the Local Authority and subsequently fell into a dangerous state of repair. Over the years the plot became an abandoned piece of wasteland with dangerous exposed areas of basement. Our brief for this project was to design an innovative and contemporary family home that would be unobtrusive to the neighbouring properties. Our design creates a private, light and airy family accommodation. Natural green roofing allows a habitat for wildlife and is attractive for neighbours to see, as well as holding rainwater as it falls. An innovative winter garden links the kitchen with the living room and provides an interesting glass corridor with floor to ceiling glazing bringing the garden inside, which overlooks and has access to a large outdoor courtyard.
