Ecclesall Design was first approached about this horse arena project in May 2022, located on land to the west of Sheffield not only within the Green Belt but also in a conservation area. We could see it was going to be a challenge to get planning permission, but as the field was already recognised grazing land with stables we felt it would be achievable.
Our clients had been sharing a nearby equestrian ménage (horse arena) with a neighbour but their neighbour had plans to move house which would bring to an end the opportunity to use their facilities. Our clients wished to construct the new arena on the field in front of the stables so their horses had a safe place to exercise when the fields were muddy in winter, and also somewhere for a friend to practise dressage.
We were delighted when, after the Planning Inspector became involved, planning permission was finally granted.
